Swimming Lessons

Give your child or yourself the opportunity to learn new skills and/or refine current skills with some special attention. Try our semi-private or private swimming lessons. The instructor to student ratio is 1:1 for private lessons and 1:2 or 1:3 for semi-private lessons. Semi-private swimming lesson participants must be at similar levels and register as a group.

Train and Race, LLC offers swimming lessons to children 2 years old to Adults.  All of our instructors have years of experience teaching swimming lessons and they are all certified in water safety by the American Red Cross.

-Customers save money when they sign up for multiple lessons.

-Semi-Private swimming lessons consists of 2-3 people.

-Prices include travel to your location (For example: home pool, and community pool).

-For swimming lessons we travel to Palm Beach Gardens, Riviera Beach, Jupiter, Juno Beach, West Palm Beach, and North Palm Beach.

Descriptions of Swimming Lesson Levels

 

Little Jellies (2 to 5 years old)

Designed to help develop basic water skills, focusing on essential swimming concepts and water safety.  Skills to be learned include:

-Entering and exiting the water

-Blowing bubbles through nose and mouth

-Submerging face

-Breath control

-Front and back floating

-Front and back kicking with support

-Prone glide (Superman/Streamline)

 

Seahorse (5+ years old)

Designed to give participants an introduction to water skills while increasing comfort and confidence in the water.  Skills to be learned include:

-Submerging mouth, nose, and eyes

-Exhaling under water through mouth and nose

-Opening eyes under water and retrieving submerged objects

-Prone glide (Superman/Streamline) with kick

-Basic freestyle swimming (arms and kicking)

-Rolling over from front to back, back to front with support

 

 Sting Ray (6+ years old, having successfully completed Seahorse skills)

Designed to build upon existing skills and further develop forward locomotion, while introducing the basics of backstroke swimming.  Skills to be learned include:

-Holding breath while underwater

-Rotary breathing while swimming freestyle

-Unsupported back float

-Prone glide (Superman/Streamline) on back with kick

-Alternating arm motion on back

-Combined arms and kick on back

-Jumping into deep water from the side and swimming back to the wall

 

Barracuda (6+ years old, having successfully completed Sting Ray skills)

Designed to build upon existing skills in freestyle and backstroke while introducing the basics of breaststroke swimming.  Skills to be learned include:

-Breaststroke kick on front and back with kickboard and streamline

-Underwater pulling

-Simultaneous arm motion with breaststroke kick

-Elementary backstroke

-Successful swimming across the pool without assistance

-Introduction to diving from a kneeling and standing position

-Treading water

 

Great White (6+ years old, having successfully completed Barracuda skills)

Designed to build upon existing skills in freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke, while introducing the basics of butterfly swimming.  Skills to be learned include:

-Dolphin kick with kickboard and streamline

-Underwater streamline dolphin kick

-Simultaneous arm motion with dolphin kick

-Sidestroke

-Introduction to flip turns

-Surface dives in deep water

 

Blue Whale (Adult)

This program is tailored specifically to cater to the individual needs of the participants.  If you’re looking to refine your stroke or just learning how to swim, the Blue Whale level will help you achieve those goals.  Skills to be learned include:

-Submerging eyes, nose, and mouth

-Prone (Streamline) gliding

-Prone (Streamline) gliding with kick

-Alternating arm motion with kick, front and back

-Survival and back float

-Rotary breathing
